Good Deals

I found some pretty good deals this week. I got my son a good dresser for cheap and some cute odds and ends.

I found this dresser on Craig's list. I got from a young girl that is moving to Santa Barbara, Ca. What do you think? It needs a couple drawer pulls and a coat of paint but I think it's a nice dresser. Caleb really needed it. The one he had finally fell apart. Kids are hard on dressers. Maybe it's just my boys? Lord, I hope not!
Then this morning I went to goodwill. I've gone to goodwills before but never really found anything.  Well, this time I did. Just the other day I was telling AJ how I wished I had a big cookie jar like the one Grandma has in her kitchen. I have one but it's just not big enough. Well, guess what?? Yep, I found it! The exact same one at Goodwill. I snatched it up right away.
This is what it looked like when I got it.

Not very pretty, huh? I would've past it up before but this is what it looks like now.

It looks pretty now. Doesn't it? I like it.

These are some other little odds and ends that I got at Goodwill. (Please excuse the dust, my house has been undergoing renovations for the past year.) All of this, the cookie jar and, yes, the dust for under $15.00. I don't know what I'll do with them but I'll show you on a later post. Maybe, I'll go to the Salvation army tomorrow. Hmmmm..........

Caleb and Daddy

I'm home everyone! I've been gone for three weeks and it feels great to be home. I missed my husband but most of all I missed my baby. Caleb stayed here in Wichita with Dad. Before I left he asked,"Mom, how long are we going to Texas for?" After he heard the words "three weeks", he decided he wasn't going. You see, three weeks without Dad would be too hard for him. Dad is his hero and there was no way he was going and leaving Dad alone. So, he stayed and they went and did everything together. You couldn't wipe the smile off of his face if you wanted to. They had a blast. I guess I'm a little jealous and sad because it's always been me he needed. Now, it's DAD! I guess I should be glad that he enjoys spending time with Dad but I can't help but feel a little sad. Am I selfish? I don't mean to be. I just hate seeing my babies grow up. What am I going to do when my boys go and do guy things with Dad? I don't have a girl to shopping with me. (SIGH) Any suggestions???

I'm in Texas!

Well I am borrowing all of these pictures from my sis. She has all of this on her blog and I liked it. I wanted to take pictures to show my friends in Wichita but why when she's done it all for me. (Ha Ha)
Here we go:

Spearman has a population of 3021 residents. Woah

There is only one stop light in the whole town.

We only have one grocery store. And it closes at 8:00pm.

No Wal-Mart here. We only have an Alco.

This is the JB Buchanan windmill collection. There are other windmills spread out through the town. Because of this, Spearman is officially known as the “windmill town”.

Courthouse. Right smack in the center of town

Spearman is a farming community. And this is what you’ll see on your drive into and out of town.

Fields of corn

hay fields

You won’t see too many cars, but you will see lots of cows

And you will see wide open land and a whole lot of blue Texas sky.

I do like it here. This is where I grew up. And even though I live in Wichita now, Spearman will always be home. There’s no crime at all. You don’t have to lock your vehicle when you run into the store and your kids can ride their bikes around town with no worries. This really is Mayberry.

Small town, America
